Modern automatic gate systems rely on multiple safety mechanisms to ensure reliable operation and user protection.

The system typically combines sensor-based detection, motor current monitoring, and edge protection technologies to prevent accidents and improve operational stability.

 

1. Sensor Systems and Installation Details


Laser Sensor (HW-12, TOF Technology)

The HW-12 Laser Sensor adopts Time-of-Flight (TOF) technology with an integrated transmitter-receiver design, simplifying installation.

Installation Layout:
The sensor should be mounted on a fixed wall surface, directly facing the detection area. A clear, unobstructed line of sight must be maintained to ensure stable detection performance.

Detection Range:
0.5m – 16m adjustable distance

Configuration Methods:

DIP switch setting (5-bit configuration) for precise distance adjustment

Reference learning mode for automatic distance calibration

Once configured, the system confirms settings via acoustic feedback and LED indicators, ensuring accurate and reliable operation in different environments.

 

Photocell (HW-09A Infrared System)

The HW-09A Photocell consists of a separate transmitter and receiver unit, providing flexible installation for various gate structures.

Installation Layout:

The transmitter is mounted on the moving gate leaf

The receiver is installed on the fixed post and connected to the control board

The transmitter supports rechargeable battery power.

Alignment and Calibration:
Proper alignment between transmitter and receiver is essential. Adjust the transmitter angle until stable signal transmission is maintained throughout the full gate travel path. Any battery replacement requires re-alignment.

 

Safety Edges (JJ-SS-02 Wireless System)

The Safety Edges system provides full-length edge protection using a wireless communication structure between the gate edge and controller.

Installation Layout:
The Safety Edges strip is fixed along the entire gate edge using screws. The transmitter is integrated into the gate body, while the controller connects to the main control board.

Pairing and Configuration:

Press “Learn” on the controller

Activate the Safety Edge to complete pairing (confirmation click sound indicates success)

Supports up to multiple edge units per system

System Functions:

Low-voltage warning when battery drops below 2.7V

Wireless transmission distance up to 100m

Multi-device memory support

 

2. Obstacle Sensitivity Adjustment (Motor Current Control)


Using the JUJIANG GIANT G2208 sliding gate operator as an example, obstacle sensitivity is controlled through motor current detection.

Working Principle:
During operation, the system monitors motor current in real time:

If overcurrent is detected during closing, the gate automatically reverses to full open position

If detected during opening, the system stops immediately

Adjustment Method:
Sensitivity is tuned using two independent potentiometers for opening and closing:

Start from a low value

Gradually increase while testing gate resistance response

Find a balance between accurate obstacle detection and avoidance of false triggering (wind load, rail friction)

Proper mechanical balance of the gate must be ensured before adjustment to guarantee accurate detection.

Smart Control Upgrade:
When paired with the EGB-18A smart control board, sensitivity can be adjusted directly via mobile APP, enabling precise digital tuning without manual potentiometer calibration.
